Each day the moral and spiritual crisis in the culture around us and in the Church seems to intensify, and the eternal salvation of souls is that which is at stake.
“The sight of the world in which we live, the need and misery, and an abyss of human malice, again and again dampens jubilation over the victory of light. The world is still deluged by mire, and still but a small flock has escaped from it to the highest mountain peaks. The battle between Christ and the powers of darkness is not yet over. The followers of Christ have their place in this battle, and their chief weapon is the cross.”
– St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross
It pains our hearts to know that so many people are far from Christ our Savior and His life-giving Sacraments in the Church, for in Him alone we can attain to true life and lasting happiness. There are also many suffering intensely from the difficulties they face in the world today—from trauma, persecution, poor health, financial and work problems, or piercing sufferings in the family. As contemplative religious, we know that the most effective remedy for this state of crisis is loving sacrifice, prayer, and fasting united to Christ’s saving Sacrifice on the Cross.
The salvation of the human race was accomplished by prayer and loving sacrifice on Calvary. Consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and in union with our divine Savior, our mission is to perpetuate and cooperate in this saving mystery for the transformation of the world and the salvation of souls. Therefore, in a concentrated spiritual effort throughout this Lent, our community will offer prayers, vigils, penances, and Masses for all those enrolled, so as to bring their needs before God and help them progress in virtue, conversion from sin, and personal healing.
This effort includes 40 Masses, 40 days of prayers and vigils, and 40 days of the monastic Lenten Fast. As your servants in Christ and zealous for the glory of God and the salvation of souls, we invite you to enroll your friends, families, loved ones, neighbors, co-workers, acquaintances, clergy, and all those in need of intense prayer and intercession. Your involvement and support can help save souls.
“How wonderful is the power of prayer! It is like unto a queen, who, having free access to the king, obtains whatsoever she asks.”
– St. Thérèse of Lisieux
So as to dedicate ourselves entirely to an unmitigated religious observance as well as a priestly apostolate, the priests and religious of our community operate no regular business and we subsist only on the charitable alms and material support of the faithful for whose benefit we offer our daily spiritual labors and sacrifices. Therefore, we invite you to join your charitable sacrifice of alms to the sacrifice of our lives for God, His Church, and His people. Your sacrifice of alms will bear much fruit in our community, because you will help provide for many religious and priestly vocations—for we have more vocations than we have space for—and you will partake in the merit and power of our order’s important spiritual mission in a troubled world that is suffering from the consequences of a profound moral collapse, spiritual negligence, and ignorance. A charitable sacrifice of alms of at least $30 is recommended, however, any amount you give will be most gratefully received.
“Thy prayers and thy alms are ascended for a memorial in the sight of God.”
– Acts 10:4
